The Situation

A client's business partner diverted company cryptocurrency holdings through a sequence of personal and shell associated wallets before the discrepancy was discovered.

The Challenge

Funds moved rapidly between services based in different countries, each with different levels of transparency and legal process.

The Investigation

We mapped the full transfer sequence and identified which services in which jurisdictions ultimately received the funds, coordinating our findings format with local counsel in each location.

Findings

Funds were identified at exchanges operating under two different national frameworks, with a documented and time stamped trail connecting each hop back to the original diversion.

Outcome

Findings were delivered in a format suitable for legal referral in each relevant jurisdiction, giving the client's international counsel a single, coordinated starting point.

Lessons

Cross border cases benefit enormously from a single, coordinated investigation rather than separate efforts in each country. The trail is easier to maintain as one continuous record.
