Mixing services are specifically designed to prevent direct transaction level tracing, meaning a portion of the funds could not be conclusively followed.
The Investigation
We applied timing and amount clustering analysis to the mixing service's known output patterns, identifying a subset of outputs statistically consistent with the input funds.
Findings
While the full balance could not be conclusively traced, a portion consistent in timing and amount was identified converging at a single exchange deposit address.
Outcome
Findings were presented with an explicit confidence level distinguishing the traceable portion from the portion that could not be conclusively followed, alongside a request submitted to the identified exchange.
Lessons
Mixing services meaningfully reduce traceability but rarely eliminate it entirely. Findings in these cases are presented with honest confidence levels rather than false certainty.
